Daylight Savings Australia 2017
It's almost that time of year when certain chunks of Australia jump in a DeLorean and jump forward an hour, just to save some daylight. The staes that join in the fun are NSW, ACT, Victoria, SA and Tasmania, with the rest of the country having to remember everything's out of whack for 6 months.
Daylight Savings comes into effect on the 1st of October, and doesn't swing back into alighment with the rest until 3am on April Fool's Day. That's a solid 6 months of calculating when the best time to call someone is to make sure they will even be where you think they should be.
Now, the time should change automatically on most devices, but that's not always the case. There have over the years, been issues with phones not changing, causing people to be late for work, or even worse, early! But have you checked your POS Terminal and made sure that it will change when required?
On the POS Terminal press the time in the bottom-right corner > Date and Time Settings. Set Time Automatically: On > Time Zone: Change to your location. This will ensure that the time will change automatically, if required. If you trade throughout these hours, you may want to set the time manually so as your daily reports display correctly.
If you use the Time Sync Master (IPS Client > File > Settings), you will only need to change the time on a single terminal.
Regardless of what settings you use, be sure to check first thing on October 1st to be sure that everything is working as it should.
