Bar Tabs

Bar tabs are a huge feature within any bar to save the customer time from always pulling their wallet out and going through a full transaction ritual. Idealpos supports bar tabs internally where you can use scanable, coded or mag-striped cards to give to your patrons. All data is stored within the system until the customer is ready to pay, and then a bill can be printed for them to check over or split with other people they are dining with.

Speed of Service

If a customer plans on being in your venue for a long time and repeatedly coming to the bar to get their drinks, it saves both of you time if you can process the sale quickly. If they have a bar tab, they can hand the card over, link it to the sale and be on their way.

A lot of customers will be repeating the same order they have been drinking previously all night, usually called a "round". Once people start charging up rounds, bartenders will become aware of this and remember the tab details to allow the customer to be served even faster than before.

Single Receipt or Invoice

If a customer is on a business trip or the event is a function, they might want to keep all of the receits to be able claim back any personal expenses they incurred to be reimbursed.

Running a bar tab allows all the sales to be totalled until the end where all items can be accumulated easily. The customer can receive a single receipt or be emailed an invoice that makes it easier for them to make their claim.

Bar Tab Tracking

The bar tab will be issued a code within Idealpos that can be encoded on a magnetic card for fast processing. The code can also be created as a barcode and made scannable, or be entered manually to link it to the sale.

Bar tabs can be given a credit limit so that if the customer reaches the limit, they won't over-spend and cause themselves financial burden. Logging each sale at the time of purchase helps to achieve this.
